Don Barranco

 Don Ramos Barranco

Don Barranco is best known for his paintings in enamel, a laborious process wherein he drips the enamel on primed oslo paper or board. A number of his paintings refer to visible objects but abstraction carries  his images far from being just mere representations.

One need not sneer at Don's faceless subjects. This is just on of Don's expression of his relaxed, calm and tender side in contrast to his seeminly stoic facial expressions. This facelessness, he explains is just a way of helping people become more imaginative, more creative. Actually, he has a face in mind. He deliberately not paints a face to his subjects because, he wants to leave something for the viewers to imagine. "Putting all the details, limits the person's imagination," he says. Indeed each one is a story that needs to be told, an emotionthat needs to be felt. Each one is a masterpiece; each one a Barranco original.
